This game was made as a school project in half a semester with 4 designers and 4 programmers. The game is a RTS battle royale with 8-10 players where you have to lead your tribe to victory by being the last tribe standing. I was personally the lead designer
and I worked on: Map design & Creation, Map balancing, designing Gameplay phases, creating and adhering to the Design Pillars, setting up testing plans, testing with players & implementing feedback.
My
favorite thing I created during this project was the design of the map. I took some inspiration from Chokepoints in RTS games and Competitive shooters. I used the ramps as an area of conflict, the flood forces players to use the
ramps to reach a higher plateau. I made sure the timing to reach a ramp was equal for the closest players to give everyone the same amount of time to reach the next ramp. Each plateau has less ramps than the previous plateau to
increase the chance of players fighting eachother and gradually diminish the amount of players in the game. This is necessary to prevent a scenario where all players have to fight on the last small plateau. One of the ramps can
be seen in the leftmost image in the gallery below.
I also communicated between the Design team and Programming team to make sure cooperation between the teams went smoothly. This project was meant to be a setup to be worked
on by many students each semester.
